Meditation Timer App Reviews

Really nice and simple application

I like the simplicity and the nice layout of the application. One feature is missing: It would be great to be able to configure the sound volume within the application.

Not good for iPod Touch - First Generation

On my iPod Touch (first generation) this application does not play a sound - not even if the iPod Touch is connected to a sound system. I am using the last software release (2.2). So, I guess that this software requires the iPhone or the latest iPod Touch with an internal speaker.

Nice

Nice and inspiring. Only localization is missing. Une version française serait appréciée!

Try it, but not sure how useful

I realize its free, so no problems there. But the iPhone already comes with a built in timer, which will function when the screen is off. I can upload any ringtone I want for the iPhone timer reminder. Since Im meditating, Im not going to be staring at the screen, no matter what is displayed. So its just an app that already does something the iPhone can do itself.

Very nice little tool!

Very nice and handy tool, much better than the built-in timer!! The ringing bowl sound can be nicely used as a timer, as the countdown can be repeated. Worth the money!!

Great Work

Exactly what I was planning to write. Thanks!

Pretty Nice

I would say that overall this is a great App. Simple and clean. My only suggestion would be to make the font a little more appealing. It doesnt really fit the background, maybe make it look more like the text on the icon, white background, green text, dark border? Just an idea. Great Jon!

Pretty Cool

I love this app. Cool idea, cool interface !!!

Great app, but make vibrate an option!

This is a great app, but its bad that vibrate cant be disabled. Hearing a loud buzz sound on your table as the phone vibrates is not the most gentle way to come out of meditation.

Nice idea

Like the application. But would love a volume control for my iPod Touch.

Nice work

Thanks for putting up a clean and simple mediation timer. And cant beat the price!

Useless if you meditation time exceeds the screen blank time

Yes folks if you set your iPhone screen to go black after 2 minutes and you meditation is longer than that, then the alarm will not sound! Did anyone test this thing? Absolutely useless.

Pretty much useless

I had high hopes for this app, but since it is rendered useless after a couple of minutes when the phone goes to sleep and the screen goes black Ill have to just recommend using the timer that comes pre-installed on the iPhone. Hopefully there will be an update that either keeps the iPhone awake while the program is running or wakes up the phone and sounds the chime when the timer is up. Until then...

Free, yes. Pay, no.

Not worth $0.99. Just use your iPhone timer with Harp. If you need a good free timer, download Zencasts 10, 20, or 30 minute mp3s. Then support them by paying the 4 bucks for their Meditator app.

Needs to wake up from sleep

When my Phone goes to sleep the timer doesnt go off. Please fix.

So disappointed

This looks beautiful, and I love the icon for the app... but it doesnt work. Am I the only one with this problem? I set the sound, but when the time runs out, nothing plays. I change the length of time on the timer and click start, but the old time remains... :-(

Useless

When the phone goes to sleep - so does the timer ... hopefully this will be fixed in future release .

Defective by design

In the first version this didnt ring if the screen went blank before time was up (a simple bug, and one that was reported as such). Now the author has decided that it is easier to disable the screen blanking entirely rather than make the app work properly. Using this, your iPhone will be lit the whole time, running down your batteries and disturbing the darkness of the room (and possibly damaging your screen as well -- it cant be healthy to have a static image displayed for a solid 30 minutes or more). The author clearly chose to take the lazy way out and hide the defect in this program rather than address the user complaints and fix the bug in an honest manner. As such, I can not in good faith recommend this program to anyone.

Zennish

I have used this a lot since it was free for meditation and for short naps. The updates have been helpful and address all the issues seen in the negative reviews, so I give it one extra star. It is a nice timer that has the benefits of a calm appearance and a settable preparation time before the timer starts. Im not sure I would have paid for it, but my suggestion would be to offer some options to the bell sound. If your speaker volume is up too loud or if your phone is too close to you the sound can freak you out.

Mute Some But Not All Sound?

I see that the upcoming upgrade will allow the user to dim the lighting on the iPhone. It would also be great if an option allowed you to mute the sound(s) notifying you of incoming e-mail or phone calls (which certainly can disrupt meditation) while allowing for the sound of the bell notifying you of the end of the meditation. Whether this is possible, I dont know, but the sound of the bell is pleasing (while, of course, the sound of an e-mail message being delivered to your iPhone during meditation is not welcome) (understanding, of course, there is an option to place the notification on vibrate).
